Forget Politics and Talk Turkey

Let’s talk turkey. Thanksgiving is coming quickly and I’m already thinking about what to make to eat. Last year we did an interesting meal because at that time my son was vegetarian. We had Tofurkey, which I was NOT thrilled about, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, several veggetable options, and your typical appetizers and desserts. I basically ate side dishes. I just couldn’t make myself eat the FAKE turkey. Don’t get me wrong everyone else there loved it, it just wasn’t for me.

This year my son is going to try eating meat. He just recently started eating it again and this will be a first time for turkey or ham. I was thinking of maybe getting Cornish Hens for everyone because they are presently on sale at WINCO for $.99 each and making a small ham. My only problem with doing that is the room it will take up in the roaster. I don’t know if I will have enough space. There is going to be six of us minimum and my best friend will probably be able to eat three of them himself so I should get him at least two. Yes of course we will still have the ham and that is good but still.

I don’t know if I’m doing a turkey or the hens yet I guess but I do know that I am making stuffing. That is probably my favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving. This year I’m making it with apples, apple juice, and raisins. It’s real simple, you just replace half of the broth that you would use with apple juice, chop up an apple for every two and a half cups of stuffing, and add as many raisins as you want. Simple enough, right? And if you want to get real creative you can add some cinnimon for a little extra pep. I know, realllll creative. LOL !

I am surfing the net to find other recipes. I feel like trying new stuff this year. I may post them as I go, maybe one a week or so.. I know this is so different than my usuall rant and rave but what can I say? I can’t ALWAYS hide my Suzy Homemaker side. If there are recipes you’d like me to find let me know and I’ll see what I can do. I can’t believe the holidays are here. I am so ready to GET ready.. funny, I know.
